The New BuildingGreen Suite – Fact Sheet

BuildingGreen, Inc. has offered online access to the GreenSpec product directory as part of Premium Web Content on the BuildingGreen.com Web site for over a year. The newly launched BuildingGreen Suite replaces Premium Web Content as the online subscription-based information service from BuildingGreen.

The launch of the BuildingGreen Suite not only ushers in the newly available and integrated online content that is described below but also brings a new organization to the whole BuildingGreen.com Web site. This reorganization better serves the needs of design and construction professionals who need information on green building strategies and products. All of the information resources on the Web site are now organized by topic as well as by LEED™ and by CSI MasterFormat®.

The modules of the BuildingGreen Suite are cross-referenced with each other so that design and construction professionals can easily view the full range of information available for any topic. The following information resources from BuildingGreen are integrated in the new BuildingGreen Suite:

High-Performance Building Case Studies Database

The latest milestone in the evolution towards the launch of the BuildingGreen Suite was the addition to the suite of the industry’s most powerful and extensive database of high-performance building case studies on July 29. BuildingGreen.com currently features over 60 case studies, and more are being added monthly. Each case study includes a snapshot overview of the project, linked to additional screens that offer details on topics such as the design process, the building’s green performance, costs, and lessons learned. Among the 60-plus projects currently featured are office buildings, schools, single-family homes, apartment buildings, cohousing communities, environmental education centers, and restroom facilities at a national park.

GreenSpec® Directory Online

Another key component of the existing BuildingGreen Suite is the GreenSpec® Directory, with more than 1,750 detailed listings of green building products, all screened for compliance with BuildingGreen’s selection criteria. GreenSpec allows users to browse for products by CSI number and LEED credit, among other options. GreenSpec is also fully integrated with the BuildingGreen Suite’s powerful search feature, which offers searching by any name, location, or keyword. Individual product listings include descriptions, associated LEED credits, contact information, links to the company’s Web site, photos, and more. As with all BuildingGreen information, there are no fees or advertising associated with these listings, to ensure the impartiality of the screening process.

Environmental Building News Online

The most significant new component unveiled with the release of the BuildingGreen Suite is the Web-based archives of Environmental Building News (EBN), now in its twelfth year as the most respected periodical in the sustainable design field. The BuildingGreen Suite features current issues of EBN—available to online subscribers even before they are mailed—as well as the entire archive, representing over 1,500 pages of newsletter content since 1992. EBN content includes in-depth feature articles on a wide range of topics, detailed product reviews, industry news, resource reviews, and more. As with other BuildingGreen.com content, the archives are organized by LEED credit, green topic, and other systems.
